Day # 1- Success

We woke up at 6:30 this morning and said our goodbye's to our host, ate eggs, called a taxi and headed to the bike shop. I posted a picture of us and the guys who worked there. The name of the bike store is Bike Beat and they were very helpful. By 12 we had out bikes and biked down to the beach. We put our back tires in the bay and headed down the road. Today's roads were pretty flat and shaded, which was nice because the temperature was in the upper 90's. We road by Yorktown Battlefield where the last battle in the Revolutionary War was fought, through Colonial Williamsburg and past Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement. Today we saw our fist signs of wildlife today, a few Hawks, an Osprey, a flock of Canada Geese, a Woodchuck, Deer, and a big black Snake stretched across the trail. After riding 60 miles we found a gas station to stop at and asked them if they knew of any near by camp grounds. The store owner welcomed us to stay in a field behind the gas station which is where we are now laying in our tents under the stars, listening to the wildlife.....and cars as they drive by. 3,953 miles to go!!
