Day #5 - Forever Young.

Well another day has gone by! This morning at 1:46 A.M. I turned 17 :). Though I didn't know it because I was asleep. Waking up at 5 o'clock again today, we started before the morning heat. The ride was gradually uphill with some long stretches that were downhill, but when we finished we ended up 2,000 feet higher then the start. Along the way we road over the 7th Natural Wonder of the World, raced a train and biked over wet roads.

Oh. Yeah. I saw this crazy cool sign too. Watch out for those cows!

Today we biked a total of 80 miles, which makes it the second furthest distance in a day. It felt a lot easier then the 100 miles a few days ago but it was still tough. We stopped in Christiansburg VA, and in celebration of my birthday are staying in our first motel. We ate supper at Pizza Inn and stuffed our selves with the buffet.

It was amazing. This marks the completion of our first map, a total of 380 miles in 5 days. Tomorrow we are planning on biking to Rural Retreat, which in only about 65 miles away. If we feel like biking more tomorrow we'll keep going. I think we'll make better time tomorrow, Mr. G finally shaved....it makes him more aerodynamic. 1/10 of the way done!

  1. Happy birthday Stephen and congratulations on finishing your first map. Mr. G showed me the maps at school several weeks ago. Glad all is well. Thanks for sharing this experience with the rest of us.

  4. Hey Stephen and Mr. G.
You're not too far from Camp Ottari. Remember, the scout troop has been there several times and Stephen you were there on your first trip with the troop to Washington, D.C. In fact if you follow Highway 693, you should be passing it. You may also pass Claytor Lake. If you do, take a picture for me.
Now, where did you stay on day 4 - you never said.
    Be carefull.
    your friend,
