Day #11- Rain. Hail. Lightening.

Today we got up and had breakfast with our new friends before leaving. By 8, we were on the road.

After a few big hills, the land got much flatter. The land now is rolling hills. It looks like the topography stays this way for quite awhile. We wanted to do a little farther today so we were aiming for 95 miles and the town of Harrodsburg, Kentucky. In the morning it rained a steady drizzle for several hours. It actually felt good. Then the sun came out and it started to get hot. We finished our second section of the map by lunch time and pulled out the next section. This part takes us through the rest of Kentucky and the southern tip of Illinois. The day ended in the last seven miles with a bad thunderstorm. We pulled into Harrodsburg after 97 miles ready to relax in a motel on Mr. G's 22 birthday (okay, I'm 52). Overall, today was a good day. We are celebrated Mr. G's birthday with some Pizza, DP and Star Wars. Tomorrow we aren't going to start biking until 8 again, because it rained tonight we're thinking it'll stay cooler longer tomorrow.

  1. Hey guys,
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY Brian!!!!
97 miles! Wow, smaller hills make a difference.
Ok, so why post a picture of a rock and a plant?
Nice, but does it have some significance for your ride today?
Also, Star Wars is great, but what about a good John Wayne movie - you know The Sands of Iwo Jima or Rio Bravo?
You guys are amazing. I think I would be dead now if I was riding along with you.
It's still HOT here, but my family went to the beach and it was cooler there.
Take care and have a great day tomorrow.
    Be safe!
    Mr. F.

  3. Happy birthday Brian! I'm with Larry, I would be worn out riding with you guys. How are your bikes working out for you? Have you had to do any repairs, fix a flat or replace any tires? Stay safe, keep riding and here's hoping the wind is at your back. Have a good ride tomorrow.
