Day #26 & #27 - Getting Started.. Again.

Day #26. We said our goodbyes to the Aughenbaugh's and headed toward Kansas. We ate lunch with Phil Hassey, the creator of Galcon, and his wife, Nan.

He and his wife are pretty awesome people. From there we went into Kansas. We ended up driving that whole day and still didn't make it to where I was to be dropped off. We slept that night in a hotel and then finished the journey the next morning.
Day #27. After eating breakfast and taking showers we were back on the road. We only drove an hour and a half to Council Grove, where I met up with Dave. We all ate lunch and my family got to know him a little before I left again. I said my goodbyes to my family and started biking by 2 o'clock.

It was so weird to bike again. After biking a week without panniers then taking
An additional 3 days off i had lost all feel for biking. It took a while to get used to biking again, but I was real happy to be back on the road. We biked almost 50 miles before we were picked up by one of Dave's friends. We are spending the 4th of July here in Clay Center, Kansas. This evening we visited friends of our hosts and ate dinner then popped some fireworks.

We had a great time visiting with them! Tomorrow's plan is just to chill and maybe go get some stuff for our bikes and fix them up a bit, other than that it's a rest day.

  1. Happy July 4th!!!!!!!!

Now that you are biking with Dave, introduce him; name, hometown, college, age, curious why he is biking, so forth. O.k.?

Have a fun and safe holiday.

Btw, we made it home at 2:00 a.m. Whew it was a long two days.
