Day #40 - Utah.

Utah is beautiful! We woke up this morning at 6 and started biking around 7. I was expecting nothing but desert; flat lands. But. It's completely different.

We biked 105 miles through Utah today and we have seen rock formations the whole way.

I think that today has been one of the best bike days yet. Everything went according to plan and the rock formations just made it all worth it. The temperature was over 100 degrees today so we all wore plenty of sunscreen and drank tons of water. We biked over the Colorado River today and then saw air planes flying around in the canyons... It really looked like they were about to fly into the rocks. We haven't seen a single house out here all day. Here are a few of the guys biking, it was hot. You can't really see them but from the left: Tyler Gettel, Stehl Taylor, and Cameron Swengel. Matt Shenk is the 4th guy biking, but he isn't in this picture.

We are staying in Hanksville, Utah today and plan on making it to San Francisco in 12 days. :) 999 miles left to bike. Tomorrow we are biking around 85 miles, 60 of which are uphill... It's going to be a tough day.

  1. Hey son,
Tough day! What do you call all these other days - softies. ;)
I think it has been tough all the way through just in different degrees for you.
Everyone is very impressed that all of you could have stayed the course thus far and conquered what you already have. 999 miles left. Count down. Wow.
Please tell your drivers THANK YOU for being there. They're feeling it just as much, 999 miles left, YES!
Love the pictures, Description of the scenery, Noise in the air, Heat in the air, keep them coming.
Everywhere I go in town (everyday), people ask about you.
    Btw, how are the wounds?
    Love you, mom
